Year's End

Forget New Year's Resolutions. I never follow them anyway. I always go in with good intentions. I decide what things I want to improve in my life. I make a list. I make the list pretty. I post it somewhere I can see it all the time. I think often of the list. And then around February or so I move the list because it's in the way. I start to forget the list. Around summer time something will happen that reminds me of the list, but by then it is long gone.

So this year I'm doing New Year's a little different. I'm celebrating all that I have accomplished in the year I'm ending. And I'll spend the new year trying to top those things. I think it's a great way to go into the new year more positive, and more productive. With celebrations and challenges 2012 is going to be MY YEAR. Let the celebrations begin!

In 2011:

  • I celebrated my nephew's first birthday
  • I took vacations to South Dakota, Washington, and New York
  • I joined the Acoustic Army (which is this kickass acoustic music event held regularly at FitzGerald's in Berwyn. Join us sometime. It's audience participation which is full of the awesome.)
  • I joined Band Back Together
  • Then I joined the Brains Behind the Band
  • All the time spent with my friends is worth celebrating tenfold
  • My asshole cat didn't kill me, nor did she eat the indifferent fish
  • The open road, always the open road
  • Baby smiles (family and friends yo, no babies for me yet)
  • Christmas with the family
  • I met some amazing new twitter/blogger friends who totally get my snarky sense of humor
  • I reserve the right to add to this list of celebrations as I think of them!
What will you be celebrating at this year's end?

  1. #4 makes me smile! Love being part of the band!

  2. Ooh, I *love* this idea! May have to copy you. :)

  3. #4 really makes me smile too!

And Chibi, please do copy it! I loved making the list, and I just know I'll think of more stuff that I can't believe I've left off of it. I tend to write in brain farts so I also tend to leave stuff out by accident.

  4. I don't see "becoming best twitter/blogging buds with a part robot who libes in Atlanta" on your list. I'm sure there's an editing feature.

seriously, I'm resisting the urge to do resolutions, lists, and goals. I have them. I just don't want to write them down. Obviously the book and possibly another are tops but I'd rather write them than write about writing them.

I'm so glad we ran into each other. Your sense of humor has helped me on my bad days.

Cheers to a great 2012 Dawnie. You're agreta friend.

  5. Lance, not all lists need to be written down. As long as you're getting things done I think you're doing just fine without the list. And, yes, meeting new friends this year is definitely on the list (well it will be in a minute when I add it) because I have met some amazing people this year and that includes you among many.

  6. Family, travel, friends, music. Can't help but notice that logging hours at the office did not make the list! I am thinking that means you are living right!

  7. I got to pet a tiger.

  8. Perfect! I say to hell with New Year's resolutions. Everyone should start celebrating the new year like this. In fact, Dawnie, I believe I will join you in this rocking celebration. I'm going to go make my own list.

Thanks for reminding me I have more things to celebrate than I have things to fix.

  9. Do it Katie! Celebrate with me!

  10. Also? I'm super jealous of the tiger. That would be amazeballs.

  11. Love this idea.
I, too, met some blog friends in person this year. Isn't it awesome that this is even a reality, a possibility? Oh, internet, how I love thee...
