Sliding across the dance floor, idling up to the bar, I ask the gentleman for a drink. He doesn’t know I’m beautiful, but tonight he gets one last chance to see me for the girl I really am. The minutes pass, the drinks are gone, and I find myself at last call. He gives me the look, and I know that tonight I go to hell and I’m taking him down with me. Long after the room clears out, with the doors locked, he corners me against the bar. Tonight at long last I get what I’ve been looking for.

This is a 100 Word Song prompt from My Blog Can Beat Up Your Blog. Join the fun! Write up your 100 words inspired by the song choice below, and link up over here. A new prompt every Tuesday, and you have one week to link up. The winner gets to choose the next song.

Oh I love this prompt! I may have to join next time. Love your words.
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely join the prompt! Everyone who participates takes a totally different take on it. It's great. And it's not too late to join this week's if you want. The prompt goes up over at Lance's blog (linked above) on Tuesday eve, and you have until the following Tuesday to post and then link up on his blog. While you're there, check out the other responses. Musical prompts are awesome because it leaves more room for interpretation. (And thanks for saying 'love your words' as that means the world to me. Especially on posts like this one.)
Deleteplease carissajade, we'd love to have you. this one if open til tuesday.
ReplyDeleteDawn, I like how you turned the interpretation into her getting confidence. That's well done.
I started to write it from his point of view, but it felt off. I couldn't capture the emotion. I'm glad I changed direction with it.
